About Me
Lama El Homaïssi (she/her) is a Lebanese actor, singer, writer and voice over artist based in Brooklyn, NY.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Lama grew up behind-the-scenes of her father’s musicals and mime plays which inspired her love of theatre and musical comedy. She received an MFA in Musical Theater from Boston Conservatory at Berklee in the U.S. There, Lama wrote and fronted her first one-person show Article 534 (2019).
Most recently, Lama was an artist-in-residence at the Safe Haven Incubator for Musicians: NYC, the Joe’s Pub Working Group and SPACE on Ryder Farm.
Thanks to the generous help of these residency programs, Lama developed two new works: her play Radio Beirut, and her second cabaret show Not Harem Material, which made its U.S. premiere at Joe’s Pub in 2023. Lama currently serves as a member of the Joe’s Pub Council of The Public Theater and is a member of the Arab American Theatre Coalition.
